One first impression from Table 3 is the very significant role which industry held in the employment structure of the Jews. Yet measuring the share of industry in the occupational composition of nonagricultural Jewish and non-Jewish labor force leads to some rather unexpected results. In five of the eight countries covered by the Kuznets statistics, industry occupied a more important place in the employment structure of nonagricultural Jewish labor than of non-Jewish labor. This is reflected in Table 4.
